Fatemah al-Sughra bint Al-Husain (Arabic: فـاطـمـة الـصـغـرى بـنـت الـحـسـيـن, "Fatemah the Junior, daughter of Al-Husain") was a daughter of the Islamic Imam Al-Husain ibn ‘Ali (Arabic: إمـام الإسـلام الـحـسـيـن ابـن عـلي). Her umm (Arabic: أم, mother) was Umm Ishaq bint Talhah (Arabic: أم إسـحـاق بـنـت طـلـحـة).[1] It is believed that, at the age of 8, she was ill and left behind at Al-Medinah when Al-Husain took part in the Battle of Karbala’ (680 ACE).[2][3] Eventually, she accompanied her aunt, Zaynab bint ‘Ali, to Ash-Sham, where she died. Her grave is believed to be in Damascus.[4]
