February 2016 Pulwama militant siege

A militant siege of Entrepreneurship Development Institute in Pulwama district occurred on 20 February 2016 in Kashmir.[1]

Events

Prior to this incident militants had attacked central reserve Police's convoy which was travelling on Srinagar jammu highway resulted in killing of three police personnel and in gunfight later one civilian was killed in firing between police and militants. Over one dozen were injured including police.[2]

After the attack on convoy, militants sieged the Entrepreneurship Development Institute where the government personnel staff was immediately rescued but one employee of said institute was killed in the immediate gunfight, he was a Gardner. The fight took around 48 hours where it was found three militants were cleverly changing their position in building engaging the security forces in fierce battle, A special team of Indian forces finally drafted a plan, where they cleared floors of building and searched every room for militants, Finally special forces team managed to neutralize all the three militants.[3]
