Ferdinand Kirchhof
Ferdinand Kirchhof (born 21 June 1950 in Osnabrück) is a German judge, jurisprudent and tax law expert.
Early career
Kirchhof served as expert member of the Commission on the Reform of the Federal System of Government (Federalism Commission), established by the Bundestag and the Bundesrat between 2003 and 2004. From 2003 until 2007, he was a member of the Constitutional Court (Staatsgerichtshof) of Baden-Württemberg.
Judge of the Federal Constitutional Court of Germany
Nominated by the Bundesrat on the suggestion of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), Kirchhof has been a sitting Justice of the Federal Constitutional Court of Germany in the court's First Senate since 1 October 2007, succeeding Udo Steiner.[1] In March 2009, he was elected vice president of the court.[2] In this capacity, he has been chairing the First Senate since 2010.

Personal life
Kirchhof is the younger brother of Paul Kirchhof, a former Justice of the Federal Constitutional Court of Germany.
