Summary

Description
English: Taunton station opened in 1842. At this time it was one of Isambard Kingdom Brunel's single-sided stations with all the facilities on the south side of the line where they were nearest to the town itself. In 1868 it was rebuilt in more conventional form and then in 1931 the entrance moved to the north side. April 2021 saw the main entrance returned to the south side. The two-storey building on the left is part of Brunel's original station and is now used for catering. The wider building was added later and has now been rebuilt as a modern ticket office. The new multi-storey car park beyond was opened in May 2021.
