Description
English: "This portrait was cut from a slightly larger composition. The beautiful adolescent girl sports a travelling outfit, as indicated by the fur lining and partially visible muff. It has been suggested she may be identified as a lady of the court – such as Ana de Mendoza, Princess of Eboli – or one of Philip II’s daughters. The work has been attributed to Sofonisba, though the style of execution is more reminiscent of Sánchez Coello and does not display her painstaking brushwork."
  • It was identified without presenting any source as portrait of Elisabeth of Valois (1545-1568).
