DescriptionAmsonia tabernaemontana container plant in fruit (paired follicles).jpg
English: Amsonia tabernaemontana: a containerised specimen in fruit, showing characteristic elongate, narrow, follicles, borne in ‘V’ -shaped pairs clustered at the tips of the stems. Plant purchased from a plant nursery in the coastal town of Blyth in the northernmost English county of Northumberland. Species belonging to the genus Amsonia are herbaceous perennials of upright habit, having the common name ‘bluestars’ and many are popular as ornamental plants, grown for their attractive flowers and bright Autumn leaf colours. This is the first image of Amsonia fruits to be uploaded to Wikipedia Commons (hitherto, the only images available have been of plants in flower).
