English: What is atrial septal defect? Atrial septal defect is a congenital heart defect where the septum that separates the left and right atria doesn't close following development, leaving an opening and potentially allowing blood to leak between the two chambers. This video covers the pathophysiology, as well as the major complications and clinical signs.
