Description
English: Chicago Landmark

(Former) Belmont-Sheffield Trust and Savings Bank
John A. Nyden & Co., architects
1929

This prominent and handsome commercial block was
constructed by the Belmont-Sheffield Trust and Savings Bank
just before the Great Depression. An outstanding feature is the
monumental arched entrance on Belmont Avenue in the Classical
Revival-style, while simpler Art Deco ornamentation is visible at
the upper floors. In addition to the bank, the building was
originally designed to house multiple uses, including rental
offices, a hotel, and street-level storefronts.
