Mai 1906 in New York) war ein deutscher Revolutionär der Märzrevolution in den Staaten des Deutschen Bundes, hier insbesondere der badischen Revolution von 1848/1849, und im politischen Exil in den USA als einer der so genannten Forty-Eighters (Achtundvierziger) US-amerikanischer General und Staatsmann. Er war der erste gebürtige Deutsche, der Mitglied des amerikanischen Senates wurde.
English: Carl Schurz ( March 2, 1829May 14, 1906) was a German revolutionary, American statesman and reformer, and Union Army general in the American Civil War. His wife, Margarethe Schurz and her sister Berthe von Ronge, were instrumental in establishing the kindergarten system in the United States.
