English: Chauny. Aisne. Ruines de l'Hotel de Ville et du Palais de Justice.;Comité des Étudiants Américains de l'École des Beaux-Arts Paris post card numbered 31504; signature not fully deciphered; undated. WWI postcard art. A scene of war ruins against a sunrise or sunset -coloured sky (including the town hall & court-house), in the (recently recaptured) town of Chauny, in the Aisne; sometime after the successful Allied offensive to recapture it. Basically romantic-realist in style; very finely-detailed work. Miniature painting in ink? & water-colours?; painted on a standard Comité des Étudiants Américains de l'École des Beaux-Arts Paris postcard blank, printed on the reverse with: 'The Comité des Étudiants Américains de l'École des Beaux-Arts Paris guarantee the authenticity of this post card' (signed R. TRU(B/D/?)ON?). Artist's signature, caption, & date on the front, across & below the bottom edge of the image; as follows:"A/D/P/? (possibly a monogram of 2 letters?) -ennis/-enris/-enuis/-envis/?[1]
