Summary
| Description |
English: (1 in a multiple picture set) This was a surprise. I doubt if there are ten of these old country schools still standing. The farmer who owned this land would donate a small portion of the land to the state and they would build a school such as this to serve 10-30 kids who lived on the nearby sections of land. These schools were necessary before the days of dependable school busses. The farm families could not take the time to drive their kids into town and pick them up after the school day ended. Once school busses came into being, these country schools were no longer needed. |
