Summary

Description
English: "Drogheda, Ireland, with surrounding counties Louth and Meath obscured by cloud." – Caption by astronaut Chris Hadfield on board the International Space Station.

This is one of a set of eight pictures of Ireland taken from earth orbit that were posted on the internet by Hadfield to celebrate Saint Patrick's Day in 2013.

The town of Drogheda on the River Boyne, seven kilometres from the east coast of Ireland, is near the bottom of the picture, with the inset of Dundalk Bay above the centre of the picture. The original image has been rotated 90 degrees to the left to present a more familiar orientation.
