Summary

Description This panel from the 1939 U.S. Constitution Sesquicentennial Commission commemorates the inauguration of the first President of the United States, George Washington. His swearing-in ceremony took place on the balcony of the Public House, later called Federal Hall. This lithograph is one of the few images of Federal Hall before it was demolished in 1812. Facsimile taken at Federal Hall. Original located in the National Archives, Records of Exposition, Anniversary and Memorial Commissions.
