, It is the command flag of a division within the Red squadron flown at the top of the masthead. This flag was initially used as the command flag for the Vice of Admiral of the Red from 1702 until 1805 when the new post of Admiral of the Red was created this flag was adopted for use by the post holder from 1805 until 1864. The Vice Admiral of the Red was given a new command flag for the same period.
