Summary

Description
English: Every day, around noon, when the tide is low, lots of women head to the dry lagoon at Jambiani to take care of that seaweed farm.

Each women has a parcel to grow "Mwani", seaweed in Swahili. The farms are made up of little sticks in neat rows in the warm, shallow water. Once they harvest the seaweed, it is used for many purposes: food, cosmetics, fabric... It's a fantastic gift from the ocean!

A gift that, with the money they earned from it, allows those women to emancipate themselves from their husbands and support their families on their own! Priceless.
