English: On 19 December 1995, I wrote this letter to Shadow Foreign Secretary Robin Cook asking for his assistance in getting the dossier of new evidence to confirm South Africa's involvement in the Lockerbie bombing (delivered to his office on 4 December 1995) properly considered by the Crown Office in Edinburgh. Mr J A Dunn, Senior Legal Assistant at the Crown Office, eventually replied on 13 February 1996 saying:
I have to advise you that the four items which you described as new pieces of evidence do not provide the evidential basis which would be required for bringing charges against anyone.
