Description Shuttle-making at the Addison Street works in Blackburn of Rowland Baguley and Company, c.1920. The company began in Manchester in 1840, but moved to Blackburn in 1854 where it took over part of the Eagle Foundry in Starkie Street. The firm bought and converted the old Gas Street Mill in 1878, extending it in 1881 and 1889. Some 50 employees produced a wide range of shuttles for the home textile industry and for export before it closed in the early 1930's.
