Nederlands: De PvdA heeft, samen met de ChristenUnie, een initiatiefwet ingediend om de Nederlandse gebarentaal wettelijk te erkennen. Deze taal is voor 15.000 Nederlanders hun moedertaal. Door deze wet krijgen doven meer te zeggen over hun moedertaal. Een adviescommissie die in meerderheid uit doven zal bestaan gaat de regering helpen om een goed beleid te maken voor doven en de Nederlandse gebarentaal. We willen ook dat de Nederlandse gebarentaal vaker zichtbaar is, bijvoorbeeld bij belangrijke speeches en persconferenties. Zo krijgt de Nederlandse gebarentaal eindelijk een zichtbare plek in onze samenleving.
