Summary

Description
English: NOAA caption: The PATTERSON lost near Cape Fairweather, Alaska. NOAA caption further states "Lost within twenty miles of its first survey"; which appears incorrect, the Patterson's first major survey was Dixon entrance and the southern part of Clarence strait. The sentence (see pp177-9 of this link) may refer to a stop at Sitka. Caption on uncropped photo carries attribution to U S Navy.
