Photograph titled, "Elephanta - Shiva and Parvati [?Ganga] with the Trimurti" taken in 1871 by D. H. Sykes. Later, it was determined that the Trimurti (Trinity) on the left is Shiva in his three different forms, anger, peace, and alert equilibrium. In the right panel, Shiva (four-handed in the middle) is shown assisting Ganga (on the left) in her descent to (or arrival on) earth from heaven. On the right are shown Parvati, Shiva's consort and in the top right, Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva, the three major male deities of Hinduism, watch.
