English: The Hundred Days Offensive, August-november 1918
Men of the Royal Horse Artillery attached to the 1st Cavalry Division firing at a German plane with a Hotchkiss M1909 machine gun fixed to a limber. Convoys were favourite targets with the enemy airmen and were provided with anti-aircraft defence of this kind. 8 October 1918.
This image was created and released by the Imperial War Museum on the IWM Non Commercial Licence. Photographs taken, or artworks created, by a member of the forces during their active service duties are covered by Crown Copyright provisions. Faithful reproductions may be reused under that licence, which is considered expired 50 years after their creation.
