Rename[edit]

A photograph of the Lares revolutionary flag of 1868, also known as the "First Puerto Rican Flag" in Puerto Rico.

Please rename this file to "Flag of Lares {1956}". You see this is not the Revolutionary Flag of Lares used in the "El Grito de Lares" revolt against Spanish rule in 1868. The Revolutionary Flag of Lares had a "white" star and not a "yellow" star. The flag with the "yellow" star was adopted in 1956 and is the one currently used by the municipality of Lares.
