To Tevoy, check out numerous discrepancies in your figure.[edit]

1. Discrepancy in the box of the figure you provided: Approximate number of aged 0-14, male and female, according to you graph, is at most 320. This is 23% of total 1417 casualties and 35% out of total 926 civilian casualties, still less than 45% you stated. Moreover, according to PHCR, there are overall 313 minors below 18. According to your figures, there are about 110 males aged 15-17. So, that leaves us with 203 minors aged 0-14, 14% out of total 1417 and 22% out of 926 civilian casualties, far less than 45% demographic distribution. 2. According to PHRC, total of 116 women were killed. Where did you get 217 number from? http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/mar/19/rights-group-names-1417-gaza-war-dead-1/ 116 out of 1417 is 8% and out of 926 is 13%, which is far less than 50%. Even if we examine your number of 217, it constitutes 15% of total 1417 and 23% of 926, still less than 50%. 3. According to PHCR, there is total number of 497 civilian males over 18. This constitutes 35% of total 1416, and 54% of 916 uninvolved. Both percents are higher than approx. 25% of males over 18.

Sceptic Ashdod

..and[edit]

..in addition to Ashdod's queries about the numbers themselves can I suggest

  • removing the following from the description to avoid WP:OR

Israel-Gaza conflict, Gazan casualties (December 27th to January 24th) as reported by the Palestinian Center for Human Rights. This data indicates that the death rate during the offensive was smaller than the death rate of Russia in peace time. Also the death rate particularized for childs below 12 years old and for women of any age was smaller than the death rate of the population in USA, Europe or Australia in times of peace. Nevertheless, it is significantly larger than the ussual death rate in Gaza, one of the lowest in the world due to the young population in the region.

  • removing the entire legend to avoid WP:OR
  • fully citing the data source with a url etc to avoid any ambiguity about which figures were used. Sean.hoyland - talk 07:36, 15 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
