Quick Question

[edit]

I noticed a lower quality image has been uploaded, but the clarity is quite different from the one that I have uploaded earlier, where you can see pretty clear see the noise of the image on the new revision. I thought the function of PNG file and not JPG for album/single covers is to get the best quality image but still follow the standard dimension of 300x300? Because before this when I uploaded a lower quality of JPG, some of them were replaced with higher quality PNG. I'm so confused right now. Which standard should I follow? JPG with lower quality, PNG with higher quality or PNG with much the same quality of a low quality JPG? SyFuelIgniteBurned 19:29, 9 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I do not notice a difference in quality; all that was changed was the file size; per guidelines, it prefers low-file size 300px PNG format covers. JPG/JPEG should not be used because it is of lower quality. I see no noise in the comparison of the images both on and off of Wikipedia. livelikemusic my talk page! 22:05, 12 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
