Appearance
There is a problem with the inclusion of this file in en:Thistle (yacht) and de:Meteor (Yacht). The Meteor in the picture sports no clipper bow, hence it cannot be Meteor I. There is also no record of Meteor I or Meteor II having been rerigged as a schooner. The stamp says it is Meteor, and as such it could be any of the A-Class schooners Meteor III (Archibald Cary Smith, 1902), Meteor IV (Max Oertz, 1908) or Meteor V (Max Oertz, 1914) instead of Meteor I, which further suggests that the supplied date (1890) is also wrong. Please revalidate the date to advise. Nuttyrave (talk) 10:45, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
- It does not seem to be Meteor III, which had a straight bow, almost clipper bow, instead of the distrinctive spoon bow in the picture. Neither can it be have been Meteor V which was sailed just once before WWI and only had black hull paints. Meteor IV (Max Oertz, 1908) was white and had a similar bow as in the picture, and if the figures in 1890 and 1908 were inverted, she may be the best candidate.
