Rather than delete the file

[edit]

I suggest that the image be reverted to the first revision of the image which is not a montage. --Walter Görlitz (talk) 15:27, 5 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Don't delete the file

[edit]

The rationale for the use of the montage file is the same as the 7 rationales for the use of each individual file. The purpose of the montage, as stated, is to illustrate the series. It seems that this speedy deletion issue is petty and/or automatically generated without thought to the context of the image. I have therefore removed the dispute template since the Fair Use Rationale template has been correctly filled in. Donn Edwards (talk) 12:21, 6 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Actually, it hasn't. Since this image comprises seven, separate, specific, copyrighted images, it would require seven separate, specific rationales for EACH use of the item. That is not the case here. Further, as WP:NFLISTS #1 notes, the use of user created montages is discourage. The montage could be replaced by a single work from the copyright holder, making such a work considerably more desirable under WP:NFCC than this user created montage. At most, one of the covers could be used...not all 7...especially when each one has its own article. Please don't remove the tag again; the underlying problem still exists, and will continue to exist. --Hammersoft (talk) 19:44, 6 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Actualy, it is the same: to represent the first editions as a single image. --Walter Görlitz (talk) 20:14, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If montages are discouraged, unless they are done by the publisher, why not just replace the image with the first edition cover of the first book, instead of all this debate? Donn Edwards (talk) 10:50, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
