The flag of South Holland used between 1948 and 1985

The flag of South Holland was adopted on October 15, 1985, replacing the flag used since June 22, 1948.

The climbing lion and the colours of the flag (red and yellow) are derived from the province's coat of arms, which in turn is derived from the coat of arms from the original County of Holland.
