FLO (stylized in uppercase) is a British girl group from London consisting of members: Jorja Douglas, Stella Quaresma, and Renée Downer. The group formed in 2019 and signed to Island Records.[1] The trio released their debut single "Cardboard Box" which gained popularity on social media.[2] The single was featured on their extended play, The Lead (2022).[3]
History
I saw the girls and we screamed across the room. I knew from that moment we were about to start something big.
— Douglas on when the members met for the first time[4]
Stella Quaresma was born in Mozambique and moved to England when she was five.[1] She attended Sylvia Young Theatre School in London, where she met London-born Renée Downer at age five.[5] For sixth-form education, they both trained at East London Arts & Music (ELAM).[6]
Jorja Douglas was born in Germany and grew up in Hertfordshire.[4] She is the daughter of former sprinter Stephi Douglas, and in 2017 won the second series of CBBC's Got What It Takes?.[7][8] Although Downer was familiar with her through social media, they first met each other at an audition.[4]
