Fox Sports Live (abbreviated as FSL or FSLive) is a nightly sports news program and is the flagship sportscast of record of the American cable and satellite television network Fox Sports 1. Fox Sports Live is primarily hosted by Jay Onrait and Dan O'Toole on weekdays and also features a panel of rotating talent with Charissa Thompson serving as moderator and segment host.

Description and format

Fox Sports Live serves as Fox Sports 1's sportscast of record and is headlined by main anchors Jay Onrait and Dan O'Toole, who came to FS1 from Canada's main English-language cable sports network, TSN, where the pair gained popularity for their irreverent presentation of sports news while serving in late-night anchor roles on that network's SportsCentre. Fox Sports previously had series on Fox Sports Net called the National Sports Report as well as the successor FSN Final Score that can be seen as predecessors to Fox Sports Live.

FSL airs on most evenings directly opposite ESPN's SportsCenter and generally starts at 10:30 or 11 p.m, depending on the ending of any event on FS1. Some nights may see the show begin at 9:30pm or earlier, such as on the Saturday before the 2015 Daytona 500, when FSL went on the air with Jay and Dan at 2:00pm EST in a special show called "Drive to the 500". On Sundays and Mondays, the show is hosted by Don Bell and Ryan Field with Onrait and O'Toole hosting Tuesdays to Saturdays. Also, at various times in between commercial breaks, Fox Sports 1 runs short 90-second capsules called Fox Sports Live Update, which also run during the day and update any stories in the morning which broke after Fox Sports Live. During Jay and Dan shows, FSL runs short hits called Fox Sports 1 Sneak Peek. These hits show either behind-the-scenes action or comedic spots such as the FSL Thrill Cam, which they claim is an homage to David Letterman. The news ticker on the network is more detailed during Fox Sports Live, with a side panel displaying additional facts pertaining to the teams in a highlight or the topic being discussed and a side bar, resembling the one seen on SportsCenter the difference between the sidebar graphic of FSL, and the sidebar graphic of SportsCenter is that FSL's sidebar is on the righthand side of the screen whereas SportsCenter's sidebar is on the lefthand side of the screen.

Jay and Dan often drop off-collar segments on their shows such as Are They Related? and Check the Tweeter. Most of the lighter moments occur during Get Me that Stat! and The 1, the top play of the day. Charissa Thompson and the panel have their own standalone show at midnight ET known as "Fox Sports Live: Countdown" when Fox Sports 1 is not airing major events. However, during College Football, The friday edition of Fox Sports Live: Countdown is rechristened Fox Sports Live: Countdown to Kickoff.

In February 2014, Fox Sports started reducing repeats of Fox Sports Live, as a result the 3-6am ET repeats moved to Fox Sports 2, while FSL repeats on Fox Sports 1, run from 5-10am ET.

In June 2015, Fox Sports announced that it'll eliminate the FSL Updates as part of a cost cutting move to restructure Fox Sports 1's news operations.

Personalities

This list include the main hosts and principal panelists (or "opinionists", as Fox Sports Executive Vice President Scott Ackerman has termed them) as well as the hosts of Fox Sports Live Update, which runs at various times throughout the day and serve as relief presenters. Fox Sports Live will also use talent from Fox Sports' regional channels. On Weekdays from 8am to 6pm when America's Pregame will air, the FSL Updates are rechristened America's Pregame Update in lieu of Fox Sports Live Update. In June 2015, as part of a reorganization, the FSL Updates were replaced by video content from Fox Sports Digital's "@The Buzzer".
