Southchurch High School is a secondary school in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, England. It opened on 1 September 2016 replacing the former Futures Community College. Futures was formerly called Thorpe Bay High School. The school was renamed in 2007 when it became a Fresh Start School. Southchurch High School is situated in a £19-million building sponsored by Partnership Learning Academy Trust.
As of November 2013 the head teacher was Stuart Reynolds who replaced Stephen Capper who had been appointed for one year to prevent the school being placed in special measures by Ofsted following poor examination results in 2012.[1]
This school has an EAL class (English Additional Language), which helps students who are learning to speak English.
Uniforms
At the start of the 2014-2015 Academic school year, Futures Community College changed from their previous uniform to shirts and ties, the colour of the ties remained the same as the old polo-shirts. Blue for lower years, and navy blue for higher years. Performing Arts polo-shirts has been taken away. From 2015-2016, Shirts and Ties will be mandatory for all students.
