Futurity (horse competition)

A futurity is a race, usually for two-year-old horses for which they have been nominated for initial entry eligibility while still a foal or even prior to birth.[1] The owners make payments over time to keep their horses eligible. Purses are usually larger than other, similarly-situated non-futurity races.[2]
