Gaëtan Varenne (born 24 June 1990 in Le Puy-en-Velay) is a French professional football player who currently plays in the Liga Leumit for Hapoel Jerusalem. His physical properties mean he is often likened to Olivier Giroud.[1]

Early years

Varenne, after starting in Le Puy en Velay from 1998 to 2004,[2] punctuated by a brief stint at Toulon during the 2000–01 season,[2] Varenne joined the training club AS Montferrand where it will be remained for four seasons from 2004 to 2008,[2] before being spotted by Clermont Foot with whom he played in U19 national the following season.[2] Following this, the Clermont Foot does not want to keep it, the young striker has engaged with the club Cournon in Auvergne.[2]

Club career

Over the past three seasons in CFA2, he gradually made a starting spot before hatching definitely this season by becoming the top scorer of all Amateur Championships in France with no less than 28 goals.[2] Varenne, scored 11 goals in 2011–12 season, beats came in second in the kingdom[3] and with this accomplishment; Clermont, Nantes, Bastia, Ajaccio and Dijon entered by the transfer list.[1] Varenne, overtaken by a trial in Dijon;[1] on 27 June 2012 signed a two-year contract with the Corsican club Bastia.[2]
