Biography
Gabler was born in 1930 and attended Central High School in St. Louis. Before the 1950 season, Gabler was signed by the Brooklyn Dodgers as an amateur free agent in 1950.[2] He played in the Dodgers minor league system for several seasons, finishing with double-digit home run totals in several seasons.[3]
After the 1955 season, Gabler was selected in the minor league draft by the Milwaukee Braves.[2] He played 21 games for the Milwaukee Class AA minor league affiliate in 1956.[3] In May of that season, he was purchased by the Chicago Cubs organization. Within a few weeks, he went to the Pittsburgh Pirates and back to the Cubs. Gabler's only MLB appearances came in 1958, when he played three games for the Cubs.[2] He returned to the minor leagues, where he made his last appearance in 1961.[3]
Gabler died in St. Louis in 2014.[2]
