The Gage Roads Brewing Company is an Australian brewery. It is one of Australia's largest independent breweries,[1] with a production capacity of 2.7 million cases per annum.
History
The brewery was founded by Bill Hoedemaker, John Hoedemaker and Peter Nolin in 2002,[2] installing a 40 hectolitre brewhouse in Palmyra, Western Australia. The brewery is named after Gage Roads, a sea channel in the Indian Ocean offshore from Fremantle.
The Company's first beer, Pure Malt Lager, was produced in 2005, followed shortly after by a midstrength Pilsner and an India Pale Ale (Gage IPA). The four years following 2005 saw the gradual increase in production from around 20,000 cases a year to 50,000 cases.[2]
In 2009 Woolworths Limited acquired a 25 per cent share in the brewer for $2 million,[2] which resulted in the brewing capacity being increased with the installation of a 100 hectolitre brewhouse. The brewery is now midway through a second, $9.5 million expansion to boost its production capacity from 1.2 million to 2.9 million cartons by financial year 2015.[2]

- Gage Roads Premium Lager (4.7% alc/vol)
- Gage Pils 3.5 (3.5% alc/vol), a mid-strength pilsner beer
- Sleeping Giant India Pale Ale (5.4% alc/vol), a traditional English India Pale Ale brewed with East Kent Goldings, Cascade, Willamette, Centennial and Chinook hops. Sleeping Giant evolved from the breweries' original Gage IPA and was released in October 2010.
- Atomic Pale Ale (4.7% alc/vol), an American style Pale Ale, brewed with Cascade, Centennial, Chinook and Citra hops. It was first released in October 2010.
- Abstinence Belgian Dubbel Chocolate Ale (7.4% abv)
- Pumpkin Ale (5% at latest release, previously 4.5% abv)
- Single Fin (4.5% alc/vol), a Summer Ale brewed with Galaxy and Enigma hops
