George Henry Hepting (September 1, 1907 – April 29, 1988) was an American forest scientist and plant pathologist.[1] [2] US Forest Service called Hepting a "pioneer leader in forest pathology".[3] He conducted seminal research on the role of ozone as causes of diseases in forests.[1] He was also noted for creation of the first computerized system for information retrieval in forestry.[1] Hepting was Chief Plant Pathologist at Southeastern Forest Experiment Station of US Forest Service[1] and a member of the National Academy of Sciences[1][2]
