George (Joji) Morikawa (森川 ジョージ, Morikawa Jōji) born January 17, 1966 in Tokyo is a male Japanese manga author known for the long-running series Hajime no Ippo. Hajime no Ippo is a boxing manga, following the main character, Ippo, through his life and boxing career. Hajime no Ippo, as of November 2015, has 112 tankōbon, or volumes, and was adapted into its first anime series in 2000 by the Madhouse studio. The first series contains 76 episodes, while the second series, which started in 2009, contains 26. The third series, named Hajime no Ippo: Rising, was produced in 2013 and contains 25 episodes.
