Ghazi Shahzad, is a Kashmiri human rights activist against enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and other human rights abuses in Azad Kashmir. Shahzad leads the [1]Tahreek e Azadi Khudmukhatri Movement [2][3]

Sudhans are a prominent Potohari Pahari tribe of the so-called "Azad Kashmir, which we in India call- Pakistan admistered Jammu and Kashmir.

Sudhans claim their descendants from Sudhozai Pashtun tribe of Afghanistan and claim that their forefathers were part of invading army of Pashtun Nawab Jassi Khan, who attacked Poonch region and established his rule over there. Ghazi real name is Abdullah Umar Khan, who earlier used to work with the Pakistani Army. He used to give training to Pakistani terrorists waiting to enter India's Kashmir Valley to create violence from different "launching pads" built near LOC that divides India's Kashmir Valley from Pakistani Admistrtee Azad Kashmir . He was at that time known as "Captain Shahzad".

Later, he himself was sent illegally by Pakistan to India's Kashmir Valley for creating violence. In India's Kashmir Valley, he joined Pakistan's dreaded terrorist Mohammad Hafeez Saeed's terrorist organization called Lashkar-e-Taiba. He was subsequently arrested by the Indian Army and imprisonment in India's Kashmir Valley. He was however released by the Indian government in a prisoner exchange program. He entered Pakistan from Amritsar's Wagah border.

After returning back to Pakistan, he formed a political party called the Jammu and Kashmir United Movement. He would regularly give press conferences on behalf of the platform of this political party and even fought 2021 "Azad Kashmir" assembly elections on behalf of this political party.

It is said that, due to his earlier links with Pakistan Army, he was cultivated jointly by Pakistani Army & Pakistani ISI to establish himself as "Pro- Freedom" leader from POJK.

Here, it is important to mention that nearly 80% of the population of POJK support freedom from Pakistan and the establishment of "Independent Kashmir". This section is often known as "Khudmukhtar Group" or "Self Determination Group". Only a small minority of 20% POJKians, mainly its urban ruling elite support POJK's merger with Pakistan.

Pakistani State & its Establishment has always been extremely terrified of this "Khudmukhtar Group" of POJK, which had rebelled against the State of Pakistan in 1955 over forced appointment of pro-Pakistan leader as "Prime Minister" of "Azad Kashmir" (POJK).

Pakistan has ever since kept a tight leash over activities of the "Khudmukhtar Group". Things were fine until the 2000s, when the older generation of POJKians remained loyal to the State of Pakistan.

But things changed as the younger generation of more assertive and informative youth of POJK came of age. This year's generation of POJKians refused to extend their unconditioned loyalty to the State of Pakistan. They could see that their territory was being used by the Pakistani Army to train terrorists and push them into India's Kashmir Valley to create violence and anarchy in India's Kashmir Valley..
