Gilbert Buote

Gilbert Buote (20 February 1833 – 16 July 1904) was an Acadian educator, publisher and author.

Buote was born in Miscouche, Prince Edward Island. He, along with his son François-Joseph, founded and published the first Acadian newspaper on the Island, L'Impartial. His novel, Placide, l'homme mystérieux, was published in 30 installments in L'Impartial, between 1904 and 1906. Gilbert was married to Madeleine Gallant on 20 February 1860. He died in Tignish, Prince Edward Island.
