Gilchrist is a Scottish surname of Gaelic origin. In some cases it is derived from the Gaelic personal name Gille Crìosd ("servant of Christ").[1][2] An Irish form of the surname is Mac Giolla Chríost.[3] Scottish Gaelic forms of the surname include GilleChrìost,[4] and GilleChriosd.[5]
