The Government College Pattoki or Municipal College of Pattoki is located in Pattoki, Punjab, Pakistan, 78 km from Lahore. The college was founded in 1965 with classes held in the Zail Ghar; after two years the college moved to the present campus. The college was nationalized in 1972, by Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. It is affiliated with the Board Of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Lahore, and the University of the Punjab.Kasur District

History

Government College Pattoki began with classes at the intermediate level. In 1972, it started a Bachelor of Arts(BA) level. In 1973 it was nationalized by the government of Pakistan.

Buildings

The college is divided into blocks:

  • Chaaghi Block is a new block, built in 1998. It is named after Chaagi, where Pakistan tested its atomic powers. In this block BA classes are held.
  • Science Block houses the science departments of the college. The departments are Department Of Physics, Department Of Chemistry, Department Of Mathematics, and the Department Of Statistics. It houses the Dean of Sciences's office.
  • Admin Block is the oldest block of the college, a two-storey block that has classrooms for FA. It has a hall which is used for examinations and literary competitions. It houses the administrative building, including the College Office, the Principal's Office and the Staff Room.
  • Computer Centre Block was opened in 2000. Classes of ICS and ACS are held there.
  • Rana Hayat Block has the office of the Controller of Examinations. The block is named after a political figure of the area. It houses the office of Bazam Ilam o Irfan, and the offices of the chairpersons of Education and Urdu departments. The block was renovated in 2006 to add to its beauty.

Library

The college has a library, with emphasis in its stock on Islamic studies and Urdu literature. The library provides two English and four Urdu daily newspapers to the students. It remains open in the summer holidays.

Mosque

As most of the students are Muslims in 2006 a mosque has been built. Earlier students and teachers had to go out of the college campus to go t oa mosque. It is open even after college timings.

Extracurricular activities

The college has won awards at National Level in speeches, poetry, and NAATs.

Al Qalam

This is an annual digest of the college. In 2000, it stood second in a competition which was conducted by The Daily Jang.

Bazam e Ilam-o-Irfan

Bazam e Ilam-o-Irfan is the literary society of the college. The society has won prizes and awards at the national level in speeches, naats, and competition.

Counseling and Guidance Centre

Counseling and Guidance centre for students and parents is under the process at Govt College pattoki and will be in running position soon Insha Allah
