Grumpynators

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Grumpynators is a Danish hard rock band inspired by the genres of heavy metal and rockabilly. Their band uses an acoustic double bass, rather than an electric bass, as is typical in hard rock genres, giving the band's sound a blend of old and new.

History

[edit]

The band was formed in February 2011 by Christian Nørgaard (Guitar) and Emil Øelund (Guitar, Lead Vocals). Jakob Øelund (Double Bass) and Kasper Jensen (Drums) soon joined. Christian first met Emil, Jakob and Kasper when he was touring with Volbeat as an acoustic guitarist. Emil, Kasper and Jakob had been playing with Volbeat's supporting band, Taggy Tones. In 2012, Kasper Jensen left the group and was replaced by drummer Per Fisker, who had previously played for the heavy metal band, Jackal.

Grumpynators had their first gig at the Barnyard Rumble Festival in 2011, and continued playing small gigs in Copenhagen that year. In March 2012, they were the supporting artist for Magtens Korridorer on the first part of their spring tour.[1][2] The band again played at the Barnyard Rumble Festival in 2012. They were chosen as the supporting act for Volbeat's "The First 5" tour in Denmark during February 2013.
