Guadalupe Campanur Tapia (1986 Cheran - 2018) was an indigenous Mexican environmental rights activist.[1][2][3][4] In 2018, she was remembered by the UN Women.[5]

Works

In 2011, Guadalupe helped to remove the local government and actively participated in local security to patrol their municipal forests. She was among the Indigenous leaders of Cherán, who raised awareness of the people to protect their forests against illegal logging. Her work for the elderlies, children, and labourers made her an important figure in her community.[6]

Death

She was killed in Chilchota, Michocán, Mexico[7] on January 16, 2018. She was found strangled to death, and the suspects still unidentified.[8]
