Gursum is a woreda in Somali Region, Ethiopia. Part of the Fafan Zone, Gursum is bordered on the south by Babille, on the west by the Oromia Region, on the north by Ajersagora, on the east by Jijiga, and on the southeast by Kebri Beyah. Information is not available on the towns of this woreda.

Based on figures published by the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, this District has an estimated total population of 211,593, of whom 105,509 are men and 106,084 are women; 15,478 or 7.31% of its population are urban dwellers, which is about the same as the Zone average of 6.9%. With an estimated area of 876.57 square kilometers, Gursum has an estimated population density of 241.4 people per square kilometer. This district is primarily inhabited by Akisho Clans (sheikh cumar) The 12 sons of Sheikh Omar also known as Akish. 1. Wara kurte ( Kurte shekh cumar) 7. ⁠wara luujo ( cali shekh cumar) 8. ⁠wara dayo ( sicid shekh cumar) 9. ⁠Igo ( Ahmed shekh cumar ) 10. ⁠OBO ( maxamed shekh cumar ) 11. ⁠Wara heebaan ( heebaan shekh cumar) 12. Warakiyo ( madar shekh cumar)

The most populated and origin people in Gursum Region is BUUKE which also known as Buuke Madoobe which sub clan in Akisho Tribe Other Clans in the Region include; Cali fiqicumar or the Bursuug Arap / muuse celi ,the sub-clans of the celi Arap on the Somali region side.
