The HP-1000/RTE (HP Product Code: 2171A) is a real-time computer system first produced by Hewlett Packard in 1966 and discontinued in November 2000.

History

The HP 1000 series runs the RTE Real-time operating system, initially for technical applications and electronic data capture, mainly to store the data captured. It is used also to analyse the data captured to generate graphics and reports.

Later this operating system is used also for small commercial applications, mainly inside industries and small factories.

When the HP 9000 systems became able to handle real-time processes, the RTE systems declined.
