Henry "Harry" Burrows (born March 17, 1941)[1] is a former English professional footballer who is best known for his career with Aston Villa and Stoke City. His playing position was a Striker. Before playing for Villa, Burrows started his career at Wigan Boys. He then moved to Stoke City then Plymouth Argyle before retiring from the game. He worked with his wife who until June 2010 was Post Mistress at Abbots Bromley Post Office in Staffordshire.

Career

Harry Burrows started his footballing career at his local club Wigan Boys before joining Football League side Aston Villa. He made the outside left position his own in the 1961-62 season and became renowned for his skill and powerful shot. He help Villa win the Second Division in 1960 and went on the score 73 goals in 181 appearances for Villa before joining Stoke. He was an instant hit with the Potters fans and twice became the season top goalscorer as he helped Stoke retain their First Division place. He became a very consistent performer for City before he finished his career at Plymouth.[2]
