Apple IOS 15.4.1 Cannot play embedded videos in Wikipedia App

[edit]

Can anyone give direction on how or if there’s a way to play embedded videos within the Wikipedia App ? Nothing happens when the play icon is selected on the Webm file I’m trying to play. It’s more than just one article that has this problem.

I’ve read the help files and they only talk about Safari and using another 3rd party, to play Theoris (video) and Vorbis (audio) Webm/OGG ? but not within the App itself. Is this a widely known Apple iOS issue ? 2601:44:4380:E810:6D53:BA79:A43F:799 (talk) 04:06, 19 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It’s very silly that Wikipedia still uses WebM that effectively rules out a huge number of readers from being able to listen to media on this site.
Most browsing is done on a mobile device now (by far), and a huge amount of that is on iPhones, which struggle with the codec in Safari.
The old argument of “hey, just install Chrome” was stupid then, and even more stupid now.
MP4 files with H264 can be played on everything, including your toaster, and is free since wp is not charging for the content.
It **should** be clear to everyone that this is the way forward. HappyGod (talk) 07:55, 26 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Audo timing

[edit]

Is it possible to make the audio start from a specific second? For example: an audio is 20 seconds long and I want it to start at second 13. Is it possible to do this? 14:07, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
