Hemant Kanoria is the Chairman and Managing Director of Srei Infrastructure Finance Ltd.[1][2][3][4]

Early life and career

Kanoria began his career at the age of 17.[5] His father entrusted him with an independent charge of two family owned flour mills,[6] which were located in Kolkata and Krishnanagar, West Bengal. His task was to restart the former and revive the latter. However, due to a change in government policies in the mid-eighties[clarification needed], business was adversely affected. Therefore the family decided to exit out of the flour milling business in 1988.[7] Thereafter, Kanoria and his younger brother, Sunil Kanoria, ventured into the business of infrastructure finance which eventually grew into a holistic infrastructure institution.[citation needed]
