Keyon Thomas (born January 4, 2000) and Demetrius Chatman (born October 10, 2000) or professionally known as Homixide Beno and Homixide Meechie make up the Atlanta rap duo named Homixide Gang.[1] After getting inspired by a close friend named R5 Homixide they started creating music in 2021.

Homixide Gang got introduced to Playboi Carti in 2021 by Problem Child.[2] They would then get signed to Playboi Carti's label Opium after their hit single SSN which released in 2021.[3] Homixide Gang has released 5 albums which are Snotty World Deluxe (2021) Homixide Lifestyle (2022), Snot or Not (2023), 5TH AMNDMNT (2023), and I5U5WE5 (2024).[4] They are affiliated with label mates Ken Carson and Destroy Lonely.

Career

[edit]

(Early-Mid 2021): Beginning of Homixide Gang/Snotty World

[edit]

Before being signed to Playboi Carti's Opium label they started off as friends then got inspired by R5 Homixide and his crew to start rapping. In early 2021 they formed the Atlanta rap duo known as Homixide Gang.

They then released their first album Snotty World later releasing a deluxe. It contains 9 songs and was released on August 25, 2021.[5] This album was received very well by the community and it consider one of their best albums.[6] Their most streamed song 5unna comes from this album.

During this time Homixide Gang was introduced to Carti by an affiliate named Problem Child.[2] Problem child is close with Carti, with Carti even mentioning to free him in multiple songs and has a leaked song named after him.[7][8]

(Late 2021-2022): Opium/Homixide Lifestyle

[edit]

After their hit single SSN Playboi Carti decided to sign the Atlanta duo to Opium.[3] They became officially signed to Opium in late 2021. Many speculate that the duo was only signed to Opium because of their Atlanta ties and relationship with Carti.[9]

Then after being signed to Opium they would release 3 singles titled NoEvi, BBY GRL, and Puttem On.[10][11][12] They would also appear on Ken Carson's album X, on the 18th track of the album on the song Delinquent.[13] On November 22, 2022, they released the duos second album called Homixide Lifestyle.[14] This album would feature one of their most streamed songs in Lifestyle and be positively received by the community.[15]

(2023-Present): Snot or Not, 5TH AMNDMNT, and I5U5WE5

[edit]

Shortly after the release of Homixide Lifestyle, the Atlanta duo would prepare for the release of their 3rd studio album titled Snot or Not. The album released on April 27, 2023, it contained 12 tracks with Uzi Work being the most streamed out of them currently.[16] The fans viewed this album as a downgrade from Homixide Lifestyle and a big disappointment

On October 9, 2023, Homixide Gang release the lead single What It Is?! to their new project 5TH AMNDMNT.[17] 5TH AMDNDMNT ended up releasing about 3 weeks later on October 27, 2023 containing 19 tracks featuring Pi'erre Bourne and Problem Child.[18] This album was considered an upgrade from Snot or Not with the most streamed song only having 5 million streams

About 6 months after 5TH AMDNDMNT released Homixide Gang released lead single to I5U5WE5 titled R50.[19] Once the album released 2 months later it contained 14 songs and had the one feature being Lil Yachty. The album only came out to to about 7k album sales which made the album relatively unpopular[20] The most popular song on the project only has 5 million streams just like 5TH AMNDMNT.[21]
