"Hook Me Up" is a pop dance song written by Jessica Origliasso, Lisa Origliasso, Shelly Peiken and Greg Wells, produced and mixed by Wells (Timbaland, Mika, OneRepublic) for The Veronicas' second album Hook Me Up (2007). It was released as the album's first single in Australia on September 22, 2007 as a CD single and digital download.

The single was released for download via iTunes on August 18 and aired on radio on August 19, 2007. The video was released on August 31 and was channel V ripe clip of the week. Lisa stated on a late night radio show that the song is about being "stressed" and "wanting to get away from it all".

The single made its debut on the ARIA Digital Track Charts at number seventeen on September 3, 2007. On November 11 it became the girls' highest-charting single and their first number-one single on the ARIA Charts. The song has strong similarities to the song Tainted Love.

Music video
The video clip was directed by Scott Speer and sees Lisa and Jess in a boarding school. The concept starts off with them marching off to class lead by a teacher with a whip while being watched by surveillance cameras with signs saying "no boys beyond this point" and vice versa. It shifts to The Veronicas holding each other while singing the first verse. Then the video shifts to them in a classroom full of students with blank faces. The chorus shows them singing on stage with their band while the audience is the students sitting in their chairs looking ahead blankly. In the second verse they are sitting in the toilets with large papers in front of them with flashes of the classroom scenes. The girls then get their friends together to start their rebellion on the school which sees them take over all the audio of the school and the classrooms. The video ends with everyone running out of the school.

In an interview with the Herald Sun, The Veronicas discuss the original concept for the "Hook Me Up" video which had a sexy theme but was later changed after they explained to the director that this was not related to the message in the song. The director then suggested making the video about a school revolt.

The video made its debut in Australia on August 31, 2007 and in the USA on November 6, 2007.
