The Housing Act of 1954, Pub. L. 83–560, 68 Stat. 590, enacted August 2, 1954 was passed during the Dwight D. Eisenhower Administration as a program managed by the Federal Housing Administration.

The act was initially drafted to provide 140,000 units of public housing with provisions to provide preferential treatment to families that will be relocated for slum eradication or revitalization.[1]
